Oilcorp said in a statement that the agreement sets out its interest to invest in both upstream and downstream activities of Indonesia's oil and gas industry, power generation sector and other projects and opportunities. The collaboration with Energi Utama will allow Oilcorp to tap, among others, the advanced technical expertise and know-how of Indonesia in deep-sea fishing. “This is timely considering the recent offer by the Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Ministry for the company to spearhead the national fisheries project,” it said. Oilcorp will be the lead member in Konsortium Perikanan Nasional Bhd with 51 per cent equity while the rest will be held by four other firms. The Government will participate in the project via a golden share in the consortium. “Nevertheless, Oilcorp is keen to invest in Indonesia’s oil and gas and power generation industries which, if successful, will provide the company with a steady stream of recurring income,” Oilcorp said. The partnership between Oilcorp and Energi Utama will not only strengthen trade between Indonesia and Malaysia but will also create new job opportunities and the transfer of technology and expertise to Indonesia. Oilcorp, which is listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia Bhd, provides engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services to the oil and gas industry.
